Ghanaian leader attends World Cup opening ceremony

APA-Accra (Ghana) President John Evans Atta Mills of Ghana on Wednesday night left Accra for South Africa to witness the grand opening ceremony of the World Cup scheduled for Friday, APA learns here.

Speaking before his departure, President Mills said that he was interested in giving the Ghana Black Stars moral support.

He stated that while some people tend to have given-up hope on the Black Stars’ performance, he was optimistic that the team will do well at the first World Cup staged on African soil.

President Mills announced that he will visit the camp of the Black Stars in Pretoria and watch their Group D opener against Serbia on Sunday before returning to Ghana.
