APA-Dakar (Senegal) The 10th African junior judo championships start Friday in the Senegalese capital, Dakar with the participation of 17 African countries.
The competition, which runs until Sunday, will bring together judokas from Algeria, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad, Congo, Djibouti, Egypt, Gabon, Guinea, Libya, Madagascar, Mali, Morocco, Niger, Senegal, South Africa, and Tunisia.
"This is a record number of participants”, the President of both the Senegalese Judo Association (FSJ) and the organizing committee, El Hadj Moussa Dia, told the local media.
According to him, this is the first time that countries such as Djibouti take part in African junior judo championships.
Dia also stressed that the atmosphere is "very good" within his country’s national junior team.
