APA-Bulawayo (Zimbabwe) On Sunday, both of the South African men’s and women’s teams succeeded in qualifying themselves for the 2012 London Olympics, after they realized victories against Kenya and Egypt in the final of the African qualifying tournament played in Zimbabwe.
The game opposing the South African women’s team to the Kenyans in the African Cup qualifier tournament final took place at Khumalo Hockey Stadium in Zimbabwe’s second city of Bulawayo.
On the other hand, the South African male team won the game against Egypt by a score of 1-0 in the second final held at the same stadium on Sunday night.
Earlier was the game opposing Ghana to Zimbabwe which finished by an overall result of 4-3 at the expense of Zimbabwe after the Ghanaian team won the penalty shout out 3-2, putting the winning team at the third place. The match had finished at 1-1 in regulation time.
As to the men’s third place went to the Ghanaian team following a 5-1 defeat of Kenya while the men’s fifth/sixth place was shared by Zimbabwe and Morocco respectively after the sides finished 1-1.
